Dyslexia

Tristan went through educational testing today and she says he has dyslexia. I guess he and Lidia have dyslexia and Aiden and Avery have central auditory processing disorder. We don't get schooling easy with any of the kids. It will be good to have this report though so schools can work with him better and understand his frustrations and strengths. He is like Lidia though in that it is not so severe that he can't learn, he just has to compensate in other ways to make up for it and will get some accommodations when it comes to testing and work. it's funny to see his test results and how much they are like Lidia's were. They both scored low in working memory and processing speeds. His were not quite as low as hers were but definitely below average and the writing is just painful to look at with both of them. There is good content hidden in the midst of terrible handwriting and spelling. Tristan seems to really enjoy working on a computer so he uses one when he can, especially for writing assignments. The educational psychologist was really good and will be writing up a report with lots of suggestions and information and I will give a copy to the school. Tristan will go to tutoring twice a week. Lidia goes once a week. Aiden may go once a week as well next year but more for emotional and organizational support than academic. He would perform a lot better on exams if he could lose the anxiety. One of the class assistants in Avery's class works with him a lot. He is progressing well but notices that he doesn't do as well as some others. I am trying to get him to make an effort to spell correctly. He is getting better at asking how to spell things instead of just making it up.
